TOONBOX ENTERTAINMENT’S PAUL HUNTER WINS BEST EDITOR AWARD FOR THE NUT JOB

Canadian Cinema Editors name 2014 winners

Editors from Enemy, Orphan Black, The Next Step and The Nut Job were among the winners at the fourth edition of the Canadian Cinema Editors Awards, held on Thursday night at the Capitol Event Theatre in Toronto.

Matthew Hannam won the award for best editing for a feature film for Enemy, while Gareth C. Scales took home the prize for best editing in a television movie or miniseries for What Remains. Stephen Lawrence picked up the trophy for best editing in long-form television series for his work on episode 103 of Orphan Black.

Jay Prychidny won the award for best editing in half-hour broadcast form for her work on The Next Step episode “Winner Takes” all, while Mark Fatzlaff won the best editing in documentary category for Blood Relative. The best editing in lifestyle/reality/factual award went to Micheal Esteves for his work on Jonathan Toews, Every Pictures Tells A Story.

Paul Hunter won the prize for best editing in animation for The Nut Job, while the best editing in short film award went to Erin Deck for Sunday Punch. Michael Doherty picked up the award for best editing in any live action web series for his work on episode 101 of Darknet.

The Canadian Cinema Editors also presented the 2014 lifetime achievement award to Debra Karen. The long list of productions Karen has worked on throughout her career include Meatballs, One Dead Indian, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Salem Witch Trials.
